Want to know how influential you are in social media 24/7? Try making a Klout Klock.

by Elizabeth Fish

If you are an avid user of social networks (in either in a personal or business capacity) then you may have already heard of Klout. If not, Klout is a handy website that, using ranking algorithms, works out what influence you have over friends or followers. This could mean how many people interact with you, project your updates and so on. Then, based on these algorithms, you get a Klout score and style. All you need is a Twitter, and/or Facebook, and/or Linkedin to join.

Fabien Royer really liked the idea of sharing and interacting with those around you, and wanted to be able to to check on his Klout statistics quickly throughout the day: enter the Klout Klock. The "Klock" pulls all of his Klout information, such as his overall score, network, influencers, style and amplification, as well as being able to tell the time and date. Pretty useful.

Using his Klout account's API key, Fabien created the Klout Klock using a Netduino Plus, SD card-turned-virtual memory and a little AdaFruit ST7735 TFT for the screen. To get the data onto the screen, each segment is displayed as an image, contained in the virtual memory. The rest involves a little bit of coding and "VirtualFrame" to get the mod working, which is detailed in the project blog post.

A cool mod if you are good with arduino systems and want to know just how revered you are in the world of social media. Check out the video below to see the clock in action:
