TV everywhere!

This week’s roundup offers two apps—one new, one updated—that let you view TV shows and games when and where you want. Plus: Two new messaging apps. Read on!

discoverygo1
Discovery Go

The new Discovery Go app lets you watch shows like “Kate Plus 8” and “Gold Rush,” plus other favorites from the Discovery family of networks, which includes TLC, Animal Planet, and the Science Channel. You can watch broadcasts live as they air, or on demand. It’s available in the U.S. only, but beware: It’s not integrated with all the TV providers across the country—so you might have to wait before your login info will work.

dragonanywhere
Dragon Anywhere

Dragon Anywhere is an iPhone app that lets you “accurately dictate and edit documents of any length by voice.” You can email dictated text as the email body, or as an attachment; the app also supports .docx, .rtf, .rtfd and text formats. The app itself is free, but to use it you’ll have to enroll in the company’s subscription service, with rates starting at $15 a month.

espn1
ESPN

The ESPN app isn’t just scores and stories anymore. Now you can watch every game that ESPN broadcasts, live. You’ll still need to sign in with your cable provider, however.

everalbum2
Everalbum

Everalbum promises to tie all your photo storage apps together—Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, and Google—to provide free, unlimited storage for every video and high-resolution photo that you take. Favorite pics can still be shared with friends and family; the app also offers Touch ID support for an extra layer of security.

starwarscomm
Star Wars: Commander

The latest update to Star Wars: Commander “features two new unique mercenary units and a new world, all inspired by species and locations featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens!” Let the obsessive craziness begin. And may the force be with you.

transitmoovit
Transit Directions by Moovit

Transit Directions by Moovit has been updated to include “Live Directions,” step-by-step guidance for your trip that updates in real time and lets you know when to get off the bus, or when your next stop is approaching. The update has added guidance for transit systems in about a dozen new cities around the world, as well.

tribemm
Tribe: Magical Messaging

Tribe: Magical Messaging makes it easier to send messages one-handed—just press a button featuring the message recipient, then continue to hold the button down while you record a short video message, then release to send. If your recipient doesn’t use the Tribe app, no problem: Your recorded message will be converted to text and sent as an SMS.

yahoomessenger
Yahoo Messenger

Yahoo Messenger lets you chat one-on-one or in groups, offers the ability to “unsend” photos and messages from conversations, and allows users to share high-res photos easily and quickly. The app replaces an older, now-discontinued, offering of the same name.
