Sick and tired of Dota 2 and League of Legends? Or perhaps just intimidated by those two kings of the MOBA genre? Blizzard announced Monday that its slightly-simpler, nominally-friendlier MOBA Heroes of the Storm is going into open beta on May 19, followed by a full release on June 2.
Of course, "open beta" and "full release" are kind of arbitrary terms considering practically anyone who wants access to Heroes of the Storm can get access—I feel like this is the most open "closed beta" since Gmail. But hey, we've got to hit that 1.0 milestone at some point.
Marking the big 1.0 launch, Heroes of the Storm will include over thirty of Blizzard's best-known (and lesser-known) characters from Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, and The Lost Vikings, as well as seven maps themed after the same.
